President Jonathan's Ambition Tears South-South Assembly

If you are one of those wondering why some Southern governors were not at the meeting. This is it...

Attempts by some groups working out the script of the Presidency to coerce delegates to the pre-national conference meeting organised by the South-South People’s Assembly (SSPA) to endorse the 2015 ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan marred the essence of the meeting as aggrieved delegates staged a walk out from the venue.

The meeting in Calabar started on a good note and had trashed most items on the position of the zone until when a motion was moved by Chief Celestine Tawo from Boki LGA of Cross River State that President Jonathan’s re-election bid be endorsed.
Immediately, there was a counter motion by Dr. Peter Mede. He rubbished the motion...
Thus, a heated argument on the motions ensued based on line of support. While those in support of the motion claimed that President Jonathan as a son of the South-South has done well and should be supported for another term, those opposed to the move maintained that the purpose of the meeting was not for politics but strictly on issues that concern the zone.
At the end, all efforts by agents of the Presidency to get the Assembly to endorse President Jonathan failed.
